Job Mission

Due to existing client expansion, we are currently looking someone who requires minimal supervision, ideally (but not wholly necessary) with some knowledge of administrative systems. This apprenticeship will give the candidate some basic skills for a future role as a print administrator, office clerk, estimator or account manager.

Results and Outcomes

This standard, which takes place over 24 – 36 months, provides the knowledge for candidates to continue working closely with customers and have well-developed knowledge of Simpson Group and the Print Industry we are active in. On successful completion, candidates will gain an internationally recognised qualification that guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.

The Role

The successful candidate will have an aptitude for problem solving, have an interest in the print industry and a passion for continuous learning. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in a fast moving, ever developing industry, starting your role in the environment where the product itself is prepped, printed, hand tailored and delivered to prestigious customers.

Training will cover employment rights & responsibilities, productivity measurement and how to improve it. The applicant will learn how to achieve and maintain quality, as well as understanding quality systems.

By the completion of the apprenticeship, you will have gained an understanding of the main printing processes and how to set up & control printing equipment across all 3 disciplines of Litho, Screen and Digital. This will cover colour control, substrates, chemicals, setting and maintaining press chemistry and problem solving whilst also considering output and quality, through the implementation of planned, preventative maintenance and your impact on individual and organisational performance

Essential Skills and Qualifications

You will ideally* be between 17 – 21, with 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade A – C (9 – 4) including Maths and English and possess the following personal attributes:

Organised with good personal time-management skills
Determined and resilient
Dependable and reliable
Committed with a good work ethic
Team player and also able to work under own initiative
Proactive – anticipating change and consequences, as well as reactive and responsive to last minute demands
Patient and keen to learn

The Role

By the completion of the apprenticeship, you will have gained an understanding of the different methods to deliver print images / files to different print disciplines in use. This will include colour theory, receipting, checking and processing digital files, creating imposition schemes and job layouts and producing a digital “proof”, among other tasks. You will learn to manage digital colour reproduction in pre-press, so that the Press Technician can set up and run effectively and also be able to produce reports and relevant paperwork.

Production Chef (Apprenticeship) L2 @ Influence Park

Production chefs work as part of a team in often time-bound and challenging kitchen environments. As well as production / office canteens, these might also include schools, hospitals, the Armed Forces, care homes, high street casual dining or pub kitchens. They report to the Senior Production chef or appropriate line manager. Production chefs are likely to work with centrally developed standardised recipes and menus, producing food often in high volumes. They apply highly methodical organisational skills, energy, accuracy, attention to detail and are mindful of the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment.

A production chef:

  • maintains excellent standards of personal, food and kitchen hygiene.
  • ensures compliance to procedures, menu specifications and recipes.
  • produces food meeting portion controls, and budgetary constraints,
  • adapts and produces dishes to meet special dietary, religious and allergenic requirements.
  • follows, completes and maintains production schedules, legislative and quality standard documentation.
  • uses specialist kitchen equipment.
  • communicates internally and externally with customers and colleagues.
  • commits to personal development activities.

We are looking to strengthen and support our on-site kitchen through an apprenticeship position in a positive, learning environment. The candidate will enjoy working with and learning from an experienced cook, whilst covering 9 programme modules: Introduction to Hospitality, Kitchen Operations, All About My Business, Personal Development & Performance, Legal and Governance, Nutrition, People in My Business, Food Safety and My Team.

The apprenticeship will aim to follow ST0589/v1.1 – Production Chef L2 and you will be based at Influence Park.

Whilst training will be given, English and Maths are a prerequisite, along with the ability to communicate to all levels.

The position reports to the Development Director but will be managed day to day by the onsite cook, with a full training programme agreed prior to appointment, which will have been set up within the agreed standard framework.

Junior Account Manager @ Influence Park

The Candidate

Do you enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? We are currently looking for someone ready to pick up the gauntlet and develop their skills to become an integral part of our client services team, learning the ropes of account management while supporting our Key Account Managers. You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.

The Role

  • Build and nurture relationships with a portfolio of clients, ensuring they continue to choose Simpson Group for their print needs.
  • Work closely with Key Account Managers to understand client objectives and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Manage the delivery of projects, from initial brief through to final production, ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, handling any queries or issues with professionalism.

As a client facing role, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. In addition, the successful candidate will possess:

  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new software tools.

Shift Manager @ Influence Park

The Candidate

Do you enjoy working in a dynamic, fast moving, complex environment? Our industry is fast moving, hectic and requires stamina and perseverance. We are currently looking for someone who thrives and prides themselves on delivering to deadlines in the smartest and most cost-effective way available. You will be responsible for delivering an estimate vs actual performance of 100% across the print, finishing and despatch departments.

The Role

  • Operate across an alternating 6am – 1.45pm and 1.45pm – 9.30pm shift pattern.
  • Maintain quality control across the production departments, as you will be responsible for containing a rework value at a level of less than 1% of turnover.
  • Optimising continuous improvement opportunities, you will maximise efficiencies and reduce waste.
  • Review and develop existing and / or new procedures with the aim of achieving 100% on time in full and right first-time delivery to all customers.
  • Plan your resources to operate with a labour spend no greater than 16% of turnover

To achieve the above, you will also have the ability and essential skills required to oversee several (“projects”) live campaigns required at the same time, in order to allocate time and man hour resources effectively.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing in a production environment and ideally must be IOSH or NEBOSH certified. (If not, there must be a commitment to participate in the required training to gain the qualification within the early stages of the appointment).
