Job Mission

You will be working under the guidance of your Team Leader, to ensure that all product leaving the building is loaded in a timely manner to the correct vehicles, contributing to the on time and in full delivery target. Working together with your colleagues, you will ensure that all processes and procedures are followed and housekeeping standards are maintained, following 5S techniques, removing waste and replenishing pallets in the area. You will also take responsibility for the despatch end of the yard, keeping it clear and accessible for heavy goods vehicles.

You will have a flexible attitude to working hours and be educated to a reasonable standard. Experience of working in similar operation and the ability to work to tight deadlines is preferred. You will be diligent and consistent in your approach, with excellent attention to detail.

The working hours are based on a 3 Shift (rotating shifts E/L/N) system but not exclusively.

Salary will be dependent on experience and set within the band applied to this position.

Job Mission

Supporting the Collate and Pack Shift Managers, you will be a key member of our first line management team ensuring the service we provide to our customers is of exceptional quality, delivering promotional campaigns on time and in full. Managing a team of operatives, maintaining standards in Health & Safety, Quality, housekeeping and Customer service within agreed levels, whilst delivering the daily production plan.

You will have a flexible attitude to working hours, have the ability to motivate staff and be educated to a reasonable standard. Experience of working in similar operation, managing people and the ability to work to tight deadlines is preferred. You will be diligent and consistent in your approach, with excellent attention to detail and an eye for continuous improvement opportunities. You will possess good IT skills and be proficient in Microsoft, particularly word and excel. IOSH certified would be advantageous and the right candidate must have experience of implementing and managing of process and procedures and have the ability to train and manage amendments and improvements.

Job Mission

Due to existing client expansion, we are currently looking someone who requires minimal supervision, ideally (but not wholly necessary) with some knowledge of administrative systems. This apprenticeship will give the candidate some basic skills for a future role as a print administrator, office clerk, estimator or account manager.

Results and Outcomes

This standard, which takes place over 24 – 36 months, provides the knowledge for candidates to continue working closely with customers and have well-developed knowledge of Simpson Group and the Print Industry we are active in. On successful completion, candidates will gain an internationally recognised qualification that guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.

The Role

The successful candidate will have an aptitude for problem solving, have an interest in the print industry and a passion for continuous learning. This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in a fast moving, ever developing industry, starting your role in the environment where the product itself is prepped, printed, hand tailored and delivered to prestigious customers.

Training will cover employment rights & responsibilities, productivity measurement and how to improve it. The applicant will learn how to achieve and maintain quality, as well as understanding quality systems

You will be interested in learning to operate large format die platens and both large and small format guillotines. There is also a semi-automatic laminator and drill within the department. The successful candidate will be expected to operate all equipment within the department after receiving full training and being signed off as competent to work unsupervised.
As part of the finishing team, you will also be responsible for the correct upkeep of the company die management system.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

You will ideally* be between 17 – 21, with 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade A – C (9 – 4) including Maths and English and possess the following personal attributes:

By the completion of the apprenticeship, you will have gained an understanding of the different methods to deliver print images / files to different print disciplines in use. This will include colour theory, receipting, checking and processing digital files, creating imposition schemes and job layouts and producing a digital “proof”, among other tasks. You will learn to manage digital colour reproduction in pre-press, so that the Press Technician can set up and run effectively and also be able to produce reports and relevant paperwork.

Production chefs work as part of a team in often time-bound and challenging kitchen environments. As well as production / office canteens, these might also include schools, hospitals, the Armed Forces, care homes, high street casual dining or pub kitchens. They report to the Senior Production chef or appropriate line manager. Production chefs are likely to work with centrally developed standardised recipes and menus, producing food often in high volumes. They apply highly methodical organisational skills, energy, accuracy, attention to detail and are mindful of the importance of sustainability and protecting the environment.

A production chef:

  • maintains excellent standards of personal, food and kitchen hygiene.
  • ensures compliance to procedures, menu specifications and recipes.
  • produces food meeting portion controls, and budgetary constraints,
  • adapts and produces dishes to meet special dietary, religious and allergenic requirements.
  • follows, completes and maintains production schedules, legislative and quality standard documentation.
  • uses specialist kitchen equipment.
  • communicates internally and externally with customers and colleagues.
  • commits to personal development activities.

We are looking to strengthen and support our on-site kitchen through an apprenticeship position in a positive, learning environment. The candidate will enjoy working with and learning from an experienced cook, whilst covering 9 programme modules: Introduction to Hospitality, Kitchen Operations, All About My Business, Personal Development & Performance, Legal and Governance, Nutrition, People in My Business, Food Safety and My Team.

The apprenticeship will aim to follow ST0589/v1.1 – Production Chef L2 and you will be based at Influence Park.

Whilst training will be given, English and Maths are a prerequisite, along with the ability to communicate to all levels.

The position reports to the Development Director but will be managed day to day by the onsite cook, with a full training programme agreed prior to appointment, which will have been set up within the agreed standard framework.
